Are you thinking about digitizing your business in 2022? If you are wondering whether you should take the native or hybrid course in mobile app development, this article will be handy for you.

This blog post will give you a short overview of both native and hybrid apps and explain why each option might be beneficial for your mobile app development.

A native application (native app) - short definition

Native apps are built for only one platform with programming languages and tools corresponding to that particular platform. For instance, Objective-C and Swift are used for iOS platforms.

A hybrid application (hybrid app) - short definition

As the word itself says, a hybrid app is a form of application combining the elements of both native apps and web apps. Those are mainly web applications set in a native application cover. For instance, web technologies such as Javascript, HTML, and CSS are the ground of hybrid app development.

Native VS Hybrid: Cons and Pros

Although native app development is more time-consuming and costly than hybrid, native apps are faster, more user-friendly, and generate more satisfaction with a high-performance user experience. Some other advantages of native apps are performing basic features offline and quick work of graphic-heavy applications.

Generally, hybrid apps feel like native ones and can provide a similar user experience thanks to specific tools. Nevertheless, sometimes the outlook of the app might differ for users, depending on the software used. Testings should be done to avoid this. Moreover, some 3D or HD games and high-end graphics still may not perform sufficiently in a hybrid app, decreasing user satisfaction.

On the other hand, hybrid apps are easier to run for different platforms since a single code base is used for all the platforms. Hybrid apps also save money and time because of the same reason. Furthermore, hybrid applications have both online and offline access, which supports a more extensive reach of an audience.

Concluding points: Native or Hybrid

While native apps are developed for one specific platform, hybrid apps have the shell of a native app and work on various platforms.

Depending on your company's current state (financial, strategic, etc.), you might need a different approach for mobile app development. The pros and cons above and a professional viewpoint will help!
